A CA 125 test measures the level of a protein known as CA 125, or cancer antigen 125, in your blood. The doctors often use this test to monitor certain cancers during and after the treatment, especially in the case of ovarian cancer. Your body produces a certain type of protein, known as CA-125, in response to cancer. The high number of these proteins can be a sign of cancer. However, it can also be a false positive owing to several other factors that increase this protein in the body.
